When Will Pubs & Beer Gardens Reopen In The UK?

Whilst many have been offering 'window service', there has been much speculation as to when, exactly, pubs and beer gardens across the UK will officially reopen for service. 

July 4th is the date that the UK government proposed in a recent strategy document, although there has been recent speculation that it could actually be sooner, with June 22nd bandied round as a potential date.

Regardless of when pubs 'properly' reopen, there has been much theorising that beer gardens could be expected to open fractionally sooner, towards the end of June. A government source has been widely quoted as explaining: "It is all conditional on the numbers moving in the right direction and the science saying it can be done safely. But outdoor hospitality – things like beer gardens – could happen quicker than people think. Indoors is going to take longer".

In short: the precise dates are a little vague at this very moment in time - but either way, it's happening soon.

Meanwhile, many cafes have already begun to reopen, offering new ways of service to delighted caffeine-starved customers. Of course, there's been a change in how things are run: leisurely sit-in coffees are a thing of the past and in their place are takeaway drinks, served in branded smoothie cups or printed paper cups; vinyl gloves, hand sanitiser on tap and optional branded face masks complete the grab-and-go efficiency perfectly.
