Pancake Day falls on Shrove Tuesday which always falls 47 days before Easter Sunday. Shrove Tuesday is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday and is the last opportunity to use eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast. And what better way of using these ingredients than pancakes?

Whilst Shrove Tuesday is a religious day for many, Pancake Day is widely celebrated by people feasting on pancakes. Whether you're a lemon and sugar, or a bacon and maple syrup kind of person, this day is for you too.

What you'll need:

100g plain flour
2 large eggs
300ml milk
1 tbsp vegetable oil (plus some for the frying pan)
Any delicious toppings you like (P.S. you can't go wrong with lemon and sugar!)
Measuring jug, bowl, whisk, and a frying pan

The method:

Place your plain flour, eggs, milk and oil in a bowl or jug and whisk until it's smooth.
Place your frying pan on medium heat and wipe it with a little oil.
Once the pan is hot, place enough mixture in your frying pan so it covers the base and let the batter cook for one minute on each side, making sure they're lovely and golden.
Serve with your desired topping and enjoy!
