5 Simple Ways Your Business Can Be Kinder

Today, Friday 13th November 2020, is officially World Kindness Day. It's also Kindness Day UK. In short, there's a lot of good feeling going round today, with the events a celebration all things 'kind', encouraging people and organisations to perform random acts of kindness.

(Even better than that: it's also the perfect distraction from the fact that today is Friday 13th, the day associated with bad luck and superstition. But let's face it: how much bad luck can there be on a day that's all about being kind?)

Over the years, Kindness Day UK has taken part in all kinds of acts of generosity, with the simple goal of spreading good vibes. According to the organisation's website, these have included encouraging a 'text wave' that saw uplifting messages ping around the country, as well as the handing out of 10,000 chocolate bars at London train stations. Pretty lovely, no?

And of course, there's no better time than right now, winter 2020, to think about kindness. With many of our lives affected by the second lockdown that the UK is currently gripped in, it really is a reminder that the little things can go a long way when it comes to lifting spirits, showing gratitude and all in all, being kind to your colleagues and customers.

From rainbows in windows and clapping for the NHS to the awe-inspiring work of Marcus Rashford for kids across the UK, 2020 might well have been dominated by Coronavirus but it's also been a demonstration of the incredible kindness that exists in this country.

Anyway. All of this got us thinking: in which ways can businesses start to be kinder as we edge towards a new year? We've rounded up a few ideas below and would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions - tweet them to @tm_ltd_UK today!

Show Your Team You Care With Rewards For Staff

Whether you're looking for corporate Christmas gift ideas ('tis the season, after all) or are simply searching for the perfect way to say 'thank you' to your hard-working team, rewards for staff are a great gesture of kindness and appreciation.

If you like the idea but don't think you've got the budget - don't worry. Our wide range and unbeatable low prices (not to mention our Price Match Guarantee!) mean you really don't need to spend a fortune when it comes to employee appreciation gifts. We've got options to suit every price point and every team size, whether you're looking for small business Christmas gifts or are ordering on behalf of a nationwide organisation.

From practical items that your colleagues will be able to use time after time to delicious sweet treats that they can enjoy whenever they want to, all of our rewards for staff are branded with your logo for that extra splash of corporate pride.

It doesn't end there, either. If you want to give staff morale a further boost before Christmas, give some consideration to our Virtual Office Party Boxes. With many businesses working from home for the foreseeable future, odds are your usual Christmas party plans are out the window. With the end-of-year celebration a must-attend event for workers across the UK, we've come up with an alternative option that means you can still celebrate together - but from the safety of your individual homes.

Filled with the contents shown above by default (and with your branding on clear display for that team spirit feeling), these gift sets for staff can also be filled with your own bespoke mix of products, too; simply contact us to find out more.

Support A Local Organisation With Charity Merchandise

Business based in a specific town or city? Investigate options for supporting one or two of the amazing local causes that are based on your doorstep. There are a few great ways you can do this:

  • Host a virtual fundraising event in their honour
  • Offer to have a fundraising box on your premises, if you're currently open
  • Donate a percentage of sales from specific products or services to them

Of course, another idea is ordering them the essential branded charity merchandise that can help them reach their goals, represent their organisation and generate funds. Items such as promotional hoodies, printed stickers or charity collection boxes with their branding can all help, as can promotional pens, branded teddy bears and so on.

Over the years, we've been honoured to support some amazing local causes with donations of promotional products. It really can make a difference to the amazing work of nearby organisations - so why not give it some consideration for your 2021 'giving back' plans?

Give Back To The Environment With Eco-Friendly Products

With environmental issues never far from the nation's collective mind, it might be time to think about the green-living tweaks your business can make to be that bit kinder to the environment. Showing that your company is taking its Corporate Social Responsibility seriously and is taking tangible steps to improve its eco-factor is a great way to demonstrate that your brand truly cares and is giving genuine thought to how things are done.

Our range of eco-friendly promotional products includes everything from recycled notebooks to Sprout pencils that are branded with your logo and can be planted after use.

Even something as simple as providing your team with promotional water bottles or branded reusable coffee cups can help cut their usage of single-use paper cups and plastic bottles. They might not seem like the most groundbreaking of ideas - but when you consider that Brits get through a reported 2.5 billion paper coffee cups every year and 7.7 billion plastic bottles, it really can help to start making a positive change.
