Today, Friday 13th November 2020, is officially World Kindness Day. It's also Kindness Day UK. In short, there's a lot of good feeling going round today, with the events a celebration all things 'kind', encouraging people and organisations to perform random acts of kindness.

(Even better than that: it's also the perfect distraction from the fact that today is Friday 13th, the day associated with bad luck and superstition. But let's face it: how much bad luck can there be on a day that's all about being kind?)

Over the years, Kindness Day UK has taken part in all kinds of acts of generosity, with the simple goal of spreading good vibes. According to the organisation's website, these have included encouraging a 'text wave' that saw uplifting messages ping around the country, as well as the handing out of 10,000 chocolate bars at London train stations. Pretty lovely, no?

And of course, there's no better time than right now, winter 2020, to think about kindness. With many of our lives affected by the second lockdown that the UK is currently gripped in, it really is a reminder that the little things can go a long way when it comes to lifting spirits, showing gratitude and all in all, being kind to your colleagues and customers.

From rainbows in windows and clapping for the NHS to the awe-inspiring work of Marcus Rashford for kids across the UK, 2020 might well have been dominated by Coronavirus but it's also been a demonstration of the incredible kindness that exists in this country.
