When running a business you will want to keep all of your customers happy, but it's especially important to keep those happy that perhaps spend more with you, or are more 'regular' than other customers. Taking care of your loyal customers is important to a company, as loyalty is the 'bones' of the business. When you are struggling it's your loyal customers that will continue to purchase from you, so it's important to remain loyal to them also. Many businesses, particularly larger ones, make the mistake of offering new deals to entice new customers in, rather than looking after their existing customers. This could be a big mistake.

The recession highlighted the importance of maintaining your existing customer base. Many businesses saw their marketing budgets cut which meant they were unable to advertise to new customers, relying on existing customers and word of mouth to get their business. Whilst we are now out of recession, we believe this strategy should still be considered as a precautionary measure.
