Promotional Products To Support Sports Days

Sports Days, or otherwise called 'Field Days' and 'Track Days' are events staged by schools and offices across the country in the Summer season, and you can get your business involved through the use of promotional products.

Sports Days are a long-standing tradition, with children as young as pre-school age taking part in sporting events. The ultimate goal is often to win an award or a prize as a result of the competition. Sports Days are generally held at the beginning of Summer, although some schools choose to host it during Autumn or Winter, in the cooler months.

Some schools use a 'house system' to judge who plays for which team. The competition is then between the 'houses' rather than between each individual child. Games played are often wide and varied, they can include athletic events such as sprints and races, as well as egg and spoon races. Three-legged races can also be run along with sack races and parent/child events. Younger children will also often participate in wheelbarrow races and games such as horseshoe throwing.

The main emphasis for Sports Days is to have fun, improve personal performances and fitness as well as to develop skills. For younger children, a particular focus is also on learning teamwork. Particularly when the children participate for their individual houses and within group events, children can learn a lot about teamwork.

There have been a number of controversies which have surrounded school sports days over the last ten years, many of which have been publicised by the media. Lots of the controversy has been over the competitiveness of the event. Due to this, many schools have abolished or altered sports days believing they damage children's self-esteem. This is as parents become excessively competitive about sports, putting too much pressure on their children to succeed. However, if done properly, Sports Day can be a fun event for all.

At Total Merchandise, we have a large number of products which are suitable for Sports Days and can promote your business at the same time. As so many parents attend Sports Days, they are a great place for getting your brand noticed. You could even sponsor the event, giving the school medals and awards to give the winners, with your brand name engraved onto them.

For more ideas on the branded sports merchandise you could use, have a look at the Total Merchandise website or give us a call.
