What Are Promotional Printed Lanyards And What Are The Uses?

I'll be honest. I didn't know what Printed Lanyards really was until I entered the world of promotional merchandise. Well, I knew what they were but I didn't know that these things people hung around their necks were called promotional printed lanyards, that's all. And I'm sure I wasn't alone.
