Promotional Mugs as it gets colder

Did you know a promotional mug is kept for more than a year? Research shows that these are kept, on average, longer than any other promotional item which shows how cost-effective they can be.

Why Are Branded Mugs So Popular?

With the number of promotional products available, particularly technical items, you may find it surprising that mugs are still so popular. Surely people would prefer to receive a promotional USB or something similar? However, research indicates whilst half of the respondents would prefer to receive a USB, the rest of the respondents would like to receive mugs, electrical items, and pens. Great news for smaller businesses!

Further to this research, 18% of respondents stated they would keep a promotional mug longer than any other item. Why? This could be because other promotional products eventually become surplus to requirements, they may not be as high in quality or they simply aren't as high in demand as other items. Around one-third of respondents stated they keep the item for between one and three years whilst a further third keep it for more than three years. The results highlighted that 87% of respondents kept their item for more than 12 months, indicating its success.

The survey randomly selected just under 15,000 adults to answer questions. Each respondent was screened and had received promotional products previously or was involved in sending promotional products. The survey also indicated that people would be more likely to do business with a brand after receiving a promotional product than if they hadn't.

When we compare the ROI of promotional mugs with other advertising spends, we can see again that it is one of the most cost-effective ways of promoting a business. The cost per impression for a promotional mug is just £0.001. This is extremely favourable as the cost of other advertising spends includes television advertising at £0.008 and radio at £0.003 per impression.

Promotional mugs give lots of opportunities for branding. Think about any promotional mugs you own, where do you keep them? Who uses them? Most promotional mugs will be kept in an office, which means that a number of different people will be using them every day.

Based on the research data, it has become clear that promotional mugs should still be considered within any marketing campaign. Not only are branded mugs low in cost but they are also one of the most popular and effective forms of promotional merchandise.
