3 Memorable Mothers Day Marketing Ideas

Although your mother, or wife, may tell you “every day is Mother’s Day!”, it is easy to forget about how profitable this occasion can be and how you can boost your sales with creative marketing ideas. Ideally, you want your Mother’s Day marketing to make your customer’s buying decision a little easier (by choosing your product!) as well as making sure they make the day as exceptional as they can for their mothers. Mother’s Day falls on 26th March this year- have you planned your promotion yet? There is still time if you haven’t, and we have put together some Mother’s Day marketing ideas to get the ball rolling…

Firstly, it’s important to understand the statistics. Mother’s Day is the 3rd largest retail holiday, with a whopping £928 million being spent on mums in 2016. On average, research suggests that British people are likely to spend an average of £58 on their dearest mothers. Moreover, shoppers don’t just plan on buying gifts for their mothers on this occasion, as studies have shown that 23% of shoppers plan to buy gifts for their wives on Mother’s Day, 10% plan to buy a gift for their daughter, and 2% even plan to buy a gift for their godmother!

Make Use of Social Media Channels

We cannot stress how important social media is! By sending out your Mother’s Day messages through social media platforms, you can easily and effectively link your brand to the special occasion. Perhaps advertise your special promotions, find a relevant quote, or post a sentimental image on Mother’s Day or in the lead up to make sure you stay on top of your customer’s minds. Don’t forget to use a hashtag to stay on-trend, whether it is one your brand have created or a generic #MothersDay, just make sure your posts can be searched and seen!

Reward Mothers

After all, it is Mother’s Day, so what better idea than to reward the special ladies in our lives? Perhaps you could reward your most loyal customers by adding special gifts or incentives on top of what you normally provide them with. Or, you could offer to donate a percentage of the sales that you make on Mother’s Day to a local, deserving charity, or a women’s foundation, to give back to the community. Not only will this be an excellent deed that your company has done, but it will also attract more customers.

Promote Fast Shipping on Your Website

Let’s not lie, we are all guilty of leaving Mother’s Day pretty late or – worse – forgetting about it until the day before! Studies have shown that a lot of people do their Mother’s Day shopping last minute, so your customers will be grateful if you can offer next-day delivery for a good price! It could be an idea to offer it for free if you have it in your budget – after all, when people are desperate to buy a gift and they have more money available than they do time, it is a great opportunity to be there for them when they really need you!

Mother’s Day is a fantastic opportunity for your business to get creative with its marketing and have fun. There are so many ways you can celebrate Mother’s Day, just – whatever you do – don’t leave it until the last minute!
