Choosing the Right Colours for Your Promotional Items Is So Important

The colours of promotional gifts are often overlooked, as many people, companies and businesses are usually confused as to which promotional gifts to choose, let alone the colour.

However once you’ve finally decided which promotional gifts are right for your company, you really do need to consider the colour, as colour can affect the way the promotional gifts are perceived a great deal. Why colours affect the way promotional gifts are perceived?

Each individual colour has a different effect on our emotions, (strange to think, but true). For example:

  • Red is associated with energy, strength, power and determination and also passion and love (perfect for a Valentine’s Day card).
  • Orange represents, enthusiasm, happiness, creativity and encouragement (perfect for a design company).
  • Blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, confidence, intelligence and truth (perfect for health associated businesses).
  • White is said to represent purity and considered to be the colour of perfection (perfect for top-end technology companies).

These are just a few of the many colour optional available on the colour wheel, but as you can see, whatever colour you choose for your promotional gifts will give off a certain message about your company. To choose the perfect colours for your companies promotional gifts, consider what the company stands for and how you want people to perceive the company and its products or services.

To grab someone’s attention, red may be the best colour to use, followed by green, however, red many not suit your company’s personality. In aromatherapy, for example, the aim is to relax the customer, giving them a tranquil experience. With this in mind, the colour red would not suit this company, but white or a light blue would.

Whatever colours you decide to fit your company best, you need to remember that, when you’re handing out promotional gifts you are trying to communicate with potential clients to bring in more business. If your communicating through a written message colour can still be used, but make sure you consider the contrast of colours. Some contrasts are more visible than others, like black on yellow.

If there is a message you want to communicate to the public, make sure you use legible colours in the text, as there is no point having an important message that no one can read.

Many promotional gifts can be customised in terms of colour and the message you want on them, so ensure you look into all the different kinds of promotional gifts available before you commit fully. This should certify you have the perfect promotional gifts for your advertising campaign.
