When you think 'medical', what's the first thing that springs to mind… doctors, nurses, sanitisers, stress? Medical merchandise on the other hand, may not have.
What is medical merchandise? Medical merchandise is just another promotional opportunity for companies to get their brand 'out there'. If you think about it, there is promotion all over the place. It's in the shops, as we walk down the street, it's on the television, so it's not surprising there is promotion when we go to the doctors too.
Many companies have taken the opportunity to promote in hospitals, doctors surgeries, and even in A&E... see for yourself, next time you go to the doctors. So where exactly is all this promotion, and why is it there? Promotion, as we said, is everywhere! The most common place you'll find promotion in hospitals, is on the posters. These posters are usually warning you about different things, or advising how you can live a heather life.
However have you ever noticed that little logo in the corner of the posters? What is this logo all about? Behind every poster there is a company who has designed it. This company is making you aware of the health risks, but they are also taking the opportunity to create more brand awareness for themselves. As each time you sit, waiting for hours in the hospital, your eyes tend to wonder, and more often than not you read every single poster in the building. Each time someone reads this poster the company logo is being subliminally messaged into the 'readers' brain, making them remember the logo or company in the future... which makes fantastic promotion for the company.
Who promotes in hospitals? You usually only see posters that are advertising, or making people aware of health issues in hospitals, which makes sense. However, obviously not all companies can relate their products to health issues. In this case, to get promotion in the medical sector companies tend to used what is know as 'medical merchandise'.
This medical merchandise can include things like, stress balls (in shapes of doctors, nurses, hearts etc), promotional pens (as every doctor or nurse carries a pen around with them) and many more. If you consider how many people doctors and nurses see every day, you can see how giving them a promotional pen to use, will offer great promotion for a company.
Even if the medical merchandise isn't given to someone, as long as it's placed in the right place, many people will still see it throughout the day.
To conclude medical merchandise has got to be on the top of the list, if you really want to get your name 'out there', as everyone goes to the hospital or doctors at least once in their lifetime!
