If you make a video that people want to discuss or debate about then viewers will take to the comments area of your video wherever it's posted. This discussion can help your video get promoted and therefore generate even more viewers.

Video has a huge audience. If you're using the internet then chances are that you've heard of YouTube... YouTube has over a billion users (that's almost a third of all people using the internet) and every day people watch hundreds of millions of hours of videos and generate billions of views! According to YouTube, their platform attracts more viewers in the 18 - 34-year-old age bracket than any single cable TV network.

Any good marketing campaign should measurable, that's why YouTube and many other video platforms offer analytics services. That means that you can see exactly how many people have seen your video, how many people watched past the 30 seconds, how many people liked your video and more!

The Negatives

Of course, a video has its downsides. Video is typically more expensive to produce than still graphics, taking more time and staff with specific expertise. Video also requires a high-quality camera in order to look professional, while images can be taken using a phone camera and still look great. Furthermore, video can have fewer applications than still media - an image can be used online, in a magazine, on a billboard as well as many other places, while video can be used online or for expensive television ads, which really restricts how the video you've spent so much time making can be used.
