Promotional Items which work better than Business Cards

Almost every business will have business cards, whether it's just the MD or every member of staff. However, in an ever-changing world, you may be surprised to hear that business cards are no longer considered to be the best way to spread the word about your company. Some businesses have chosen to use various promotional items to advertise their business instead.

Out With The Old And In With The New - Promotional Merchandise

Can you remember the last business card you received? If you are a Managing Director it's likely you will have received hundreds over the past twelve months meaning it's highly unlikely you will be able to remember each and every one of them. In comparison, if you got a promotional product which really stood out – a USB credit card for example – you're going to be more likely to remember it, right?  So why, in the modern-day are businesses still preferring to use business cards to promote their business rather than unique items?

There are a number of promotional items you could use to promote your business, most of which are almost guaranteed to have a bigger influence than the traditional business card.

First of all, and perhaps the most cost-effective and easiest to carry around – promotional pens and pencils. These can be customised to include your name, business name and telephone number – all the information you need for someone to contact you.  

Another great business card idea is a promotional fridge magnet. Almost everyone has magnets on their fridges or filing cabinets – for some reason we just can't seem to throw them away! If you want to make sure your business sticks in someone’s mind then this is possibly one of the best ways you can do so. After giving out the business card, the receiver will often go back to the office or home and stick it on the fridge, they won't want to waste it in their business card holder!

Perhaps a less conventional idea – branded notebooks, notepads, and stickers. Again, these are going to be used by the recipient as notepads are always useful, particularly in business. Promotional notebooks and likewise are great giveaways at trade shows or similar, as they are bulkier which means you are unlikely to want to keep them in your pocket for long! Even better, pair them with a printed bag so your customers can easily carry them around the show - double the exposure!

Of course, promotional items will never fully push out the traditional business card, but if you are a modern business who wants to try something slightly different – then this could be the option for you!
