Millennials are those born between 1977 and 2000. At the moment, they're a leading generation for direct buying power which is why so many brands are focusing their marketing efforts toward ensuring the millennials become interested in them. Brand love, supporting causes and technology are what millennials are all about, so have a look at our top 5 tips for directing your brand towards this super generation.
1) Create and Share Videos
You want to create content that will make users smile, find interesting, and share. It has been predicted that by 2019, 80% of internet sessions will be to videos. Many brands are catching on to this, and the good news is that in this age it's generally not to difficult to convert existing content into video form. Studies are showing that videos receive significantly higher engagement rates than plain text, meaning this is one trend you want your brand to get on board with.
2) Include User Generated Content (UGC)
"User-generated content is like a magnet to [millennials]," says Dimitrios Kourtesis, CEO at Goodvidio. Millennials are all about authentic content, and UCG is almost always authentic. It's becoming easier and easier for people to create content, e.g. by writing reviews, and when millennials see this type of content, they can start to trust the brand.
3) Ensure Content Is Created With Their Interests In Mind
Millennials are all about experience, so when you market your brand as something for them, and not for their money, they'll notice your good intentions and climb on board. Try not to be pushy, and focus on engaging them in a personalised way. Ultimately, this will build interactions that will capture their attention.
4) Make Your Space Among Social Media Outlets
Most of millennials time is spent on social media; think Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and the likes. If your content is optimised for these spaces, e.g. by including call-to-actions, it will be easily shared and 'liked' amongst other millennials. It's far more common for millennials to turn to social channels to find information than older generations ever did.
5) Be Creative
It's a terrible thing when you speak to someone and they're so inspiring and colourful, then you see the way they market their brand and it's all so dull and grey. If you're creating something worth sharing, marketing will become a whole lot easier. Keep your content fun and avoid unnecessary jargon- we promise the millennials will love it.
