Custom Merchandise for the UKs 4 Day Long Weekend

Custom merchandise is perfect for creating brand awareness at special events and parties. Let's face it, it's not often we need an excuse to have a party, especially when the sun is shining! This year you may be attending a number of parties, from Birthday parties to BBQ's.

However, there will be one big celebration that everyone will be talking about this year... the Queens Diamond Jubilee. This celebration will be taking place on the 2nd to the 5th June 2012 and it marks 60 years of The Queen's reign. The queen came to the throne on 6th February 1952 however her coronation took place on 2nd June 1953 (hence why we will be celebrating Queens Diamond Jubilee in June this year).

The last big celebration like this was over 10 years ago when we celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. This year though, the late May bank holiday is being moved to Monday the 4th June, which means people across the UK get a lovely four-day long weekend. This May bank holiday (now in June), is also known as the spring bank holiday and usually falls on the last Monday of May. This holiday for many people is a very welcomed day off that they can spend with family and friends.

However, there are some customs associated with this day too. In Gloucestershire, for example, people race down a steep hill following a large piece of round cheese. The first person to cross the finish line wins a Double Gloucester cheese. This custom is said to have started around Roman times, and back in those days, it was a way of guaranteeing the rights of the villagers to graze their livestock on the surrounding land. In other parts of the world, Morris dancers put on displays and festivals are held.

For companies all over the UK, these 'May bank holiday' festivals are the perfect opportunity to had out custom merchandise. Custom merchandise that is related to food is always a popular one, as many shops are closed on this day and of course, people still get hungry. Following this holiday (as mentioned) is the Queens Diamond Jubilee and it goes without saying that people celebrating this will want memorabilia to remember this day by, so brand up some Union Jack flags and promotional mugs in preparation for this.

Other custom merchandise suited to this event includes:

- Promotional Jubilee Slim Bean Tins

- Promotional Jubilee Bean Pots

- Promotional Jubilee Queens Head Mugs

- Promotional Jubilee Treat Tins

Custom merchandise like this and other fantastic promotional items, perfect for this event, can be found on this website.
