Launched in 2004, Total Merchandise is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of promotional products. Operating in a competitive and fast-moving market, we pride ourselves on our customer service and the long-lasting relationships we strike up with our customers.
Due to our continued success and expansion, we are looking for an experienced individual to join our team in this newly-created Head of Sales role.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing and motivating team members, as well as reporting on performances and ensuring team members are always acting in accordance with our company principles.
You’ll be confident in your abilities to exceed expectation and juggle multiple responsibilities, and would describe yourself as a strong leader, capable of mentoring, monitoring and advising your team. Top customer service is core to our brand so impeccable people skills – from your phone manner to your ability to tackle problem orders – are crucial. Helping to shape and develop the future of our busy Sales team, you’ll play a crucial role in the development of Total Merchandise.
Duties include and are not limited to:
- Manage the sales administration function, operational performance reporting and advising senior management on maximising business relationships and creating an environment where customer service can flourish
- Ensure all sales representative activities are in accordance with the guidelines of the company
- Responsible for the planning, recruitment, direction, organisation and control of sales representatives to accomplish specific objectives
- Responsible for monitoring the performance of the sales team
- Plan and implement a specific appraisal system that describes the responsibilities and performance standards for each member of the sales team
- Motivate and guide the sales team to ensure sales and commission targets are met
- Personally observe the performance of the sales administrators on a regular basis
- Provide high standards of ongoing training for the sales administrators so that they possess sufficient technical knowledge to present information on the company’s products in an accurate and balanced manner
- Oversee large enquiries from potential clients where the sales administrator is not experienced to do so
- Assist during emergencies or as deemed necessary by the General Manager
- Carry out other duties/tasks outside normal routines but within the overall scope of the job
