Reinventing The Bike Bell

At Total Merchandise, we're always interested in new and upcoming products - especially when they're relating to eco-friendly activities like cycling. Today's innovative product comes from Australia, where bike accessory company Knog is working on a new bike bell. You might be thinking, "What's wrong with a standard bike bell?" Well, there's nothing wrong with these bells, they work for warning people of your presence, however, aren't the most visually appealing accessories for your bike. That's why Knog has designed the Oi, a small but effective bike bell that fits nicely on your handlebars.

 

 

The Oi bike bell is primarily aimed at road bike riders - cyclists that might not use a bell due to its looks or lack of aerodynamics. This bell fits in so nicely that it can be hard to tell it's even their and despite its small size, sounds just like a regular bell!

 

 

The Oi launched on Kickstarter, a website where new product ideas are circulated and funding can be raised to get these products into production. Knog aimed to raise 20,000 Australian Dollars in order to create their bell, however, it ended up raising over a million! Clearly, there's a large demand for this product.

 

 

It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design of this product, on their Kickstarter the team can be seen testing bell sounds from different sizes and shapes of metal, as well as professionally designing their bells from basic sketches to advanced CAD (computer-aided design) diagrams.

 

 

We're excited to see this product on bikes around the world and wish the team at Knog the best of luck with their product. Hopefully, we'll see the Oi make its way to the promotional product market as it would be a great promotional product to promote bike safety!
