The Best Time to Post On Social Media

The Best Time to Post On Social Media

Timing is everything when it comes to posting on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms. Particularly if you are a UK based brand, you want to be posting when people will be on their devices to see it. This larger audience eventually converts into increased engagement and sales; therefore, it is a win-win situation. So, when is the best time to post on social media? There is no ultimate answer as some businesses may find some times yield more engagement than others, however we have split this into separate social media platforms which, surprisingly, have differing ‘best’ times for posting your content.

The Factors

The main factors which have an effect upon the best time for you to post on social media include:
- The country your company is based in
- The social media platform you are using
- The area you are targeting
- How your target audience interact with the platform

Facebook

People use Facebook in a multitude of ways: at work, at home, on their mobile, and on their desktop. It is often noted as the ultimate social media platform as it is the most personable platform and many people use it even on the weekends. Research by Hubspot has shown that for Facebook the best times for posting in order to yield the highest level of engagement are as follows:
- Weekend: midday to 1pm
- Wednesday: 3pm – 4pm
- Thursday and Friday: 1pm – 4pm

Twitter

Twitter is a platform used both at work and at home and people tend to scroll through during their commute or breaks. Twitter is popular amongst mobile users therefore it is unsurprising that people tend to use the app during their downtime. The best times found to post on Twitter are:
- Monday – Friday: 12pm – 3pm
- Wednesday: - 5pm – 6pm

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is undoubtedly the number one social network among professionals. Therefore, the times you are posting should reflect the hours of the day professionals are likely to be working. The morning commute, just before lunch hour, and the commute back home are found to be optimal times for posts to reach the maximum amount of people. Furthermore, it was found that posting on the weekends and well as posts on Monday and Friday receive far less engagement rates than the rest of the working week. The best times found to post on LinkedIn are:
- Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am – 8:30am, 12pm, & 5pm – 6pm

Instagram

Instagram is a very popular platform designed specifically for mobile users. Therefore, people tend to use Instagram all the time. Therefore, the only times that you should not be posting on Instagram are:
- Monday – Thursday: 3pm – 4pm

So, does your content scheduling need a change up of timings? Get your ultimate timings right and you will maximise your engagement rates.
